LeapFrog appoints emerging market leader Frances Holliday as General Counsel

London 24 May 2018:

LeapFrog Investments the dedicated investor in healthcare and financial services for emerging consumers, today announced the appointment of Frances Holliday as General Counsel. Frances joins LeapFrog from Kazimir Partners, an asset manager focused on emerging markets, where she was General Counsel. Prior to that, Frances was a specialist mergers and acquisitions lawyer at Slaughter and May, a top-tier global law firm, for nearly a decade. There she led large-scale transactions for major corporations, financial institutions and governments. She will be based in the London office.

Dr. Andrew Kuper, CEO and Founder of LeapFrog Investments commented: “Frances is a stand-out for her diverse high-level experience achieved over two decades. She has driven complex deal structuring and cross-border M&A in difficult markets, in addition to structuring substantial new funds. She also has deep experience in broader leadership roles, including serving as a Board member for portfolio companies, as well as running corporate HR and compliance departments. She brings to LeapFrog an exceptional set of skills that will contribute to our strong track record of growth, investments and realisations – building value for investors and communities.”

LeapFrog expects to benefit from Frances’s expertise in navigating the complexities of the regulatory environments for both financial services and healthcare in Asia and Africa. The firm will draw especially on her deep experience with financial services transactions in key Sub-Saharan markets such as Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria.

Frances Holliday commented: “It is truly exciting to be joining the largest and leading equity impact investing firm in emerging markets. This is the team that for over a decade has been pioneering the pursuit of Profit with Purpose. I look forward to working with the LeapFrog team and investors, as well as the remarkable portfolio company CEOs and their Boards, to address the long-term investment opportunity of 4 billion people rising towards the middle class.”

Frances holds a BA in Oriental Studies from Oxford University, where she was also awarded a travelling fellowship to the United Nations Sub-Commission on Human Rights in Geneva, and a Post-graduate diploma in Law and Legal Practice from Nottingham Law School. She is fluent in Japanese, Russian and French.

Frances will be responsible for all aspects of LeapFrog’s legal functions across its 8 offices and its 21 portfolio companies across Africa and Asia. She takes the mantle of legal leadership from Tom Brunner, who remains a Partner with LeapFrog.
