Charles Lowrey is Executive Chairman of Prudential Financial, one of the world’s largest financial institutions. Founded as the Prudential Friendly Society to bring insurance to working families with a 3-cent policy, for 150 years the company has offered financial security and empowerment. Today it has 50 million consumers and remains one of the most trusted brands globally with The Rock as its symbol.
Charles served as CEO from December 2018 to March 2025. He previously served as head of Prudential’s International businesses, which included orchestrating Prudential’s entry into Africa alongside LeapFrog Investments, and as head of US businesses. Prior to that, he was CEO of PGIM, Prudential’s global investment management business which now manages $1.4 trillion for clients in 63 countries.
Before joining Prudential in 2001, Charles was a managing director and head of the Americas for J.P. Morgan’s Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking group, where he began his investment banking career in 1988. Earlier, Charles spent four years as a managing partner of an architecture firm he founded in New York City.
Charles received an MBA from Harvard University, a master’s degree in architecture from Yale University and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Princeton University.
