September 17, 2025
London, UK: LeapFrog Investments, the profit with purpose investment firm, has appointed Charles Lowrey to its Global Leadership Council, in his personal capacity. Charles is Executive Chairman and former CEO of Prudential Financial, one of the world’s largest and most trusted financial institutions.
Charles will advise LeapFrog’s senior leadership team, led by founder and CEO Dr Andy Kuper, as the firm scales its investment strategy across Asia and Africa. LeapFrog’s companies currently reach 559 million emerging consumers with essential services in 37 countries. Charles will support LeapFrog’s efforts to build financial, healthcare and climate solutions for over four billion emerging consumers worldwide as they rise into security. He will also shape the firm’s engagement with global institutional investors.
Charles brings decades of leadership experience across insurance, asset management and global markets, with a long-standing commitment to expanding financial access to financial security. His appointment follows Prudential Financial’s more than a decade-long relationship with LeapFrog as a strategic partner and anchor investor in multiple LeapFrog funds. Charles served as CEO of Prudential from 2018 to 2025, during which time he led the company’s transformation across geographies and business lines. Previously, as Head of Prudential’s International businesses, he oversaw the firm’s expansion into Africa in partnership with LeapFrog, catalysing greater insurance coverage and financial inclusion for millions of people. Earlier, as CEO of PGIM, Prudential’s global asset management arm, Charles oversaw the growth of the platform to more than $1.4 trillion in assets under management, serving clients in 63 countries.
Charles Lowrey said: “LeapFrog’s mission aligns with my long-standing commitment to expanding access to financial security worldwide. They continue to demonstrate that strong investment strategies can create both return and opportunity and I’m pleased to join the Global Leadership Council to support their continued innovation and expansion.”
Dr Andy Kuper said: “Charles brings decades of experience leading a global financial services firm and shaping strategy across global markets. His perspective and leadership will help LeapFrog accelerate towards reaching a billion emerging consumers with essential services by the end of this decade.”
The Global Leadership Council brings strategic insight and global networks to advance LeapFrog’s profit with purpose goals and keep the group at the forefront of the global impact investing industry. Its members include Roger Ferguson, former President and CEO of TIAA and Vice Chair of the US Federal Reserve; Julia Gillard, former Prime Minister of Australia and Chair of the Wellcome Trust; Simon Israel, former President of Temasek; and David Gonski, former Chairman of the Future Fund.
